Zorbo
Fullscreen

Test your skills as you tap to the beat in this challenging rhythm game! Featuring four original songs ranging from easy to insanely difficult.

To score points, hit each note as it passes through the circle at the bottom of the screen. Use the A key to hit notes in the left column, the S key to hit notes in the middle column, and the D key to hit notes in the right column. For long notes, hold them to gain extra points. After hitting enough notes, a multiplier will build. The multiplier can reach up to 8x points, but resets whenever a note is missed.

Marina decided to do a rhythm game as her yearlong i2 passion project early in the 2017-2017 school year, but didn't make much progress until the last few days. The game was originally planned to feature up to 10 songs - all of which would have been written by Marina - but she only ended up making one. The majority of the actual game was finished on the night before the showcase.

  • The main menu music, titled 'Silompetition', was actually made during a competition between Nathan and Marina. In the competition, each person would have to make a song without being able to hear it until the very end.
  • All of the songs featured are original songs, but only one was actually made by Marina: Zorbo.
  • The name Zorbo was used because Marina couldn't think of any other names. It came from a combination of "orb" - a reference to the orbs that fall from the top - and a Z used to hint towards the game's futuristic theme.
  • Other website songs that were planned to be featured included the 'Fish Tank Theme' from Fish Tank, 'UrVolumeIsOn' from Project 17, 'US Endless 2' from Ultimate Survival: Endless, 'Inspired' from Rival, and 'Saspradio'.
  • The game was largely inspired by an old iOS game called Tap Tap Revenge 2, which was taken off of the App Store.
  • Because the game was settled on so late into production, the project went by the name 'Marina i2 Project 2017-2018'.
  • The first song used to test the gameplay was a remix of 'Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans' from Undertale.
  • The note patterns were all written in a Google Spreadsheet and then downloaded into the project as CSV files. This allowed Marina to work on the project without needing to code.
